Happy St. Pat's day!!

Well, Jackson's still sick. Coughing and really hoarse. We've gotten to where we put him in bed with us for part of the night because we feel so bad. We just want to snuggie him and make it all better -- but Tylenol Cold for Infants really does a better job . . .

Today is Friday in Lent, so it's no meat. That means no Irish Stew! Oh well, maybe Fish and Chips with a few stouts will make up for that.

This evening we're going over to Rachel and Clay Steely's house for our family guild Disciples in Mission class. I reviewed the material today (I'm the discussion leader) and it's pretty good. The basic topic is 'faith in God, even in the face of adversity.' It's kind of ironic, since exactly one year ago I was facing some serious adversity. Stuff that I'm still not through with, but am getting over. I'm not really ready to talk to anyone about it -- but that will change with time. It's nothing seriously life threatening or anything, but it's just a personal failure.

And through it all -- and especially through the business failures with the restaurant and bar -- I've always had faith. Sure, there were some REALLY bad times, but I got through them. And I feel lucky for having done so.

To tell you the truth, I think what I have now is due to those failures. I couldn't imagine raising a family and either practicing law or being in a hospitality business. I feel blessed to be able to work the 'net, strengthen my tech knowledge -- and do it all at home with my family.

Well, Maria (our housekeeper) is here, Katie and Jax are on a walk, Zero's in the back yard barking her head off, and I need to get some work done. Gotta go --

What a way to start the day -- I roll over at 6:50 to the sound of snorfelling and wheezing and I know it's Jackson. He caught a cold while we were at Myra's over the weekend

So I got up and went to Eckerd's to get some infant cough and cold Tylenol. Katie had been trying to comfort him since about 6 am. He's sleeping now, but not very comfortably.

Yesterday was a bear -- very productive, but by the end of the night, I was beat. Katie was at a trade show until late, so in addition to the normal life of taking care of Jax and trying to do some work in between, I did all the night stuff too. Not bitching, just telling.
I also had a chance to meet with a friend who needs some web work done on his site. It's a total gut and redo. I'll charge him half what I would normally charge -- the power of friendship!
And speaking of gut and redo, I did a really nice logo for the Texas Interhash and put up a infoCentral site for that. Too bad I didn't do it earlier -- the Interhash is next weekend!
Anyway, today I've got to clean the house for a meeting this afternoon and try to help Jackson feel as good as possible until Katie gets home later. Poor guy -- it really sucks to be a baby and be sick . . .

Too tired to update today. Long day, lots of work / family stuff.
Remind me to update you tomorrow --
Katie's been in bed 2+ hrs, so I better join her soon . . .

I just ordered Coursebuilder for Dreamweaver 3 -- it looks like a new client is on board that will need it, so the $200 is an easy expense. As I said earlier, the web cam is loaded, installed and working. I didn't figure it would be as easy as it was to get it hooked up. Really it was plug and play straight from the box. It took about 15 minutes to load all the software (and get some webcam software from the net), then just plug it into the USB and it's up. I built a little template page and that was about it. -- Well, dinner's done, and crap TV is all that's on, so it looks like the day's come to a close. What did I really get done today? Well, other than the webcam, I got my full schedule set for the rest of the week, moved my dentist appointment to week after next, did some laundry, set up the DSN's for Windsor Foods, emailed the folks at Windor concerning PASTAKIT.COM, played with Jackson and put away all my stuff from SXSW. I also deposited our IRS refund -- a cool $6k. Heck, at least it will pay off some debt left over from the bar and pizzaria . . .

OK -- big day. The web cam is up and running. Check it out. I'm getting ready for dinner, Katie's putting Jax to sleep, and we'll be winding down in a little bit. More later, after dinner and a few beers.

Well, I had the new Domino's chicken italian pizza thing and I think it's pretty good -- for mass produced Dominos stuff. Anyway, Katie wanted to take a look at the website photos from Feb, so she asked me to pull it up on the iMac. She surfed around a few minutes, then hit the 'family page' and gave me the old -- "I don't think you really should put this stuff on the web, I mean who cares that you went to the dentist . . . "

She doesn't get it. It's not that she thinks this is 'private' and too sensitive to put on the web. She just thinks no one cares, so what do I think I'm doing by putting it out there . . .

Anyway, I'm going to wind down and go to bed. Tomorrow's going to be a busy day. I've got to digest all the stuff I thought and learned at SXSW, then crank out some work for Windsor, Cherokey and Lone Star. Also have to make an appointment with Lorna Dunes (a hasher friend) for an initial project meeting for a client of hers that is a new client of mine. It will be a distance learning site -- which reminds me, I've got to get a copy of Coursebuilder for DW3. Looks like it's www.macromedia.com direct sales time.

Sylvester is purring pretty loud on my lap, but not asleep. He missed me. He'll be clingy tonight for sure.

Goodnight.

Testing the bookmark to the editor -- phase 2

Well, it looks like it took! I just ordered some pizza for Katie and I, Jackson is in bed, and it's time for a beer.

Here goes -- officially testing the log. I hope this works. I'd like to begin keeping a true, as it happens journal. Wish me luck!
