Roof / Sides On

Well, things are running pretty smoothly on the house lately. We've had good solid weather with little rain, so things are looking good. We've got the roof decking and felt on, and today they finished putting up the side decking / plywood. It looks like a house again, instead of a disaster zone! HVAC, plumbing and electrical are all in process, too - so there's lots of people in and around the house.

I found out last week that two of the guys that are working on the house are actually father and son. I've always worked with Ramon as the lead on site, and one day I was talking to one of the other guys - an older guy that seems to do a lot of the precision cutting work - and asked what his name was. "Ramon," he said. Hmmm... there's another guy named Ramon, and he looks a lot like a younger you... That's when I realized that everyone calls the Sr. Ramon "Poppy". Makes all the sense in the world now! Turns out that the younger Ramon has known Isreal (the foreman) since they were 7.

Anyway, they started reconfiguring the west wall, windows and door today, so they basically took all the siding and sheetrock off - leaving just the wall studs. So instead of the roof being open to the world, now a bit of the wall is open, albeit with tarp to protect it.

Lots of work left to do, but so far it's looking good.
