Good morning
Monday!
Well, last week
was a fairly busy one -- settling into the new year, getting back
to work, cleaning up from the holidays -- it all takes it's toll on
your time!
After getting
back from Mom and Row's over the New Year's weekend, I put together
a lasagna and we went over to Carolyn's for an afternoon dinner. It
was her birthday, so we figured we'd do what we could to share it
with her. Tom and Laura were in Vegas, so Carolyn was watching Spencer
and Taylor; Tim and Christina brought Kyle and Trevor -- and we really
all had a nice time in the late afternoon and early evening.
Monday brought
the beginning of the work week in the new Millennium, and little or
no Y2K problems around the world. Anticlimactic, to say the least.
But I'm glad. I hope everyone keeps their heads on straight the rest
of the year, though. The rest of the week just sailed smoothly along.
Basically, just me and Jackson during the day doing Dad and Jackson
stuff, then Katie home in the evening for baths and play before bedtime.
We started the
'let him cry it out' approach to bedtime this week, too. I tell you,
it was HARD the first night. Especially since Katie decided to let
him cry it out at 2 am -- and hadn't clued me in on the idea ahead
of time! Trust me: it's one of those things you need to be prepared
for! And 2 am isn't the time for a surprise like that . . .
Anyway, he's
getting on a regular nap schedule and the bedtime ritual is falling
into place nicely.
Over this past
weekend, we went to a friend's son's christening party -- pretty nice
to see other families enjoying the transition. We also had a chance
to go on a date -- a movie and dinner -- while Carolyn baby-sat Jackson
on Saturday night. We really had a good time.
The movie: Magnolia.
I thought it was FANTASTIC -- but you have to like really random stories
with a really deep meaning. Very entertaining. Kept me in my seat
waiting for more for the whole 3 hours.
So, that's about
it for now -- It's just back to work, back to playing with Jax and
back to monitoring the AOL / Time Warner merger!
