Well, the coffee's
brewing and the sun is definitely shinning on a fantastic 'winter'
day in Houston! It's been rainy the past few days, so we've been somewhat
stuck inside. I think we'll definitely go for a long walk this afternoon
. . .
Last week was
pretty uneventful -- just the normal ebb and flow of work and family.
I went to Dallas over night on Wednesday and came back Thursday --
quick trip, but worth it. Hopefully I'll be helping a client up there
with both internal intranet set up and external customer focused internet
marketing. Good stuff --
When I got home
on Thursday, though, it was pretty clear that Katie was tired. She
said Jackson was up pretty much every 2 hours throughout the night.
That didn't last long, though. As of a couple of nights ago, he pretty
much sleeps straight through from about 7:30 pm until 5:30 or so in
the morning. We do have to get up and help him out when he's rolling
over or something, just so he doesn't wake himself up. He'll start
crying just a bit -- but he's still asleep -- and we try to figure
out what he needs *quickly* so he'll stay asleep. It seems to work.
Jackson's also
been very uncomfortable lately with his teething. Drool everywhere!
But the good news is that I felt his gums this morning and noticed
the tooth cutting through the gums. It's the front lower one. Can't
wait until it comes in enough to see it, not just feel it cracking
through!
As for the weekend
activities, we went to a friend's baby shower on Saturday. She's a
hasher and one of the motorcycle riders I ride with. Her name is Rebecca,
but we either call her Group Sex or Sex Rat -- take your pick! She
and Bruce are expecting a baby boy the end of this month.
And as you might
expect from a group like ours, the baby shower started off with a
bang -- with nasty neighbors calling the cops on us! Oh well. The
cops just basically said we weren't doing anything wrong and that
the lady was a nut. But we knew that!
What's up for
this week? I'm going to go to the Zoo with Jackson and our friend
Sara and her daughter Kiara. Just a little fun outing for the hell
of it.
For the weekend,
we're going to try to go to a party at the Museum of Fine Arts (we're
members) on Friday and then out to dinner -- but we've got to find
a sitter first. Carolyn can't do it, so we're looking . . . We've
also got the Red Dress Valentine's Hash this weekend. We'll all drag
out our red dresses (the three of us each have one) and have a fun
with our friends. And we'll probably do something else fun for Valentine's
day over the weekend, just for us.
