It's a nice,
hot, day in Houston, and I'm sitting here -- 100+ fever and strep
throat. Just what I needed!
When I got back
from Atlanta, I found that the kids and Katie had a touch of a cold
-- basically the normal crud that you get from kiddos. Well, by that
Sunday night, I started getting congested, etc. That hung on for a
week, until this past Sunday night around midnight, I woke up coughing
really bad, and with a terrible sore throat. Monday I fought it --
I've had sore throats before, no big deal. Tuesday, it hit me -- Yep,
I've had sore throats before, and when they've been this bad, they're
strep.
Anyway, I called
an appointment in on Tuesday and got in that afternoon. I hit the
nail on the head, and the doctor has me on the obligatory antibiotics.
Nothing to do about the soreness, though. He said just to take some
ibuprofen -- so I'm taking tons!
So in other news,
Katie went back to work this week -- and boy did she pick the right
week for it: The OTC. That's right, she's out at the Astrodome for
a week of working the floor at the pinnacle of energy technology conferences.
She said she normally sees good response from it, so this should give
her quite a bit to do for a while now that she's back.
On the Kid Front,
Katie going back to work means that Porter had his first day at Carolyn's
school -- of course he's not really in 'school' it's more of day care
at this point. But it is nice to know Carolyn's right there. From
what we can tell, he's doing just fine so far. And Jackson knows he's
just across the walkway in the other building. Yesterday Carolyn took
him over to see Porter and it made Jackson happy.
And speaking
of making JBug happy, he's started telling us when he has to poop
-- sometimes. He actually took his first dump on the pot late last
week. He walked right up to me after dinner, pointed to his pants
and said, "Poo Poo". We got him on the potty and out it
plopped, just like an old pro. He pees in the potty, too, but that's
not as regular now.
Anyway, there's
no real rush. I figure if he's got it down before he goes to college,
it's fine with me.
Other than that,
all is going fine. We made it out to a ball game at Enron last Sunday
to see the Astros lose. We had a good time, though. The roof was open,
the sun was shining, and the hotdogs were hot-doggin . . . I'm currently
in DEAD LAST place in my fantasy league, thanks in large part to Jose
Lima and Octavio Dotel, but that's another story entirely.
