Updated May 6, 2004

The first half of this year has been much like the bulk of last year -- lots of travel for work, and lots of time spent with the family doing regular stuff on the weekends and down-time. In a way, it seems all so 'normal' that there hasn't been anything I really felt like 'saying' in a journal, so I thought: "If you don't have anything interesting to say, don't say anything."

But then I remembered... I never have anything interesting to say!! That hasn't stopped me in the past!

Oh, well -- Can't look back -- only forward (and to recent past, not months and months...) We just got back last week from a trip to Washington DC. I had a client Annual Meeting to go to (we heard Homeland Security Department Sec. Tom Ridge speak) and I decided to take Katie, the boys and Nana. We had a really good time at all the monuments and museums -- and I got work done at the same time.

Next real trip is to Orlando again, but Just Katie and I. My friend Travis and I are speaking at a meeting, and since I travel so much, Katie flys free with me whereever I go, so we figured we'd make a trip out of it.

Anyhow, right now I'm on the final 2 weeks of a pretty large / cool / good project in Dallas; I'm managing a consultant we have doing some work in Memphis; and working on our Sarbanes-Oxley opportunities. We should know next week if we get a project in Denver / Tulsa, and if so, I can add that to my travel zones.

Katie is taking the travel thing really well, although I know it's hard on her. The boys are OK, but I can tell that my being gone is leading to some issues with them -- they need me around. And I need them.

This weekend it's off to the beach -- for the first time since I broke my elbow (on Good Friday, skim-boarding). We're going down for Mother's Day -- but really just going to go, since we haven't been down for a month. We're all looking forward to a bit of sand and sun and surf. I got some new fishing tackle for the boys, so we'll probably do a little more fishing in the bay this time, too.
