It's Tuesday, I'm in Houston. Jackson's in Houston. Katie's in Ohio. You know what that means: Yep, I grilled a big fat steak last night, topped it with a whole package of sliced, sautéed mushrooms and skipped the veggies.

I always eat good / terrible (depending on how you look at it) when Katie's out of town! Anyway, things are all well with Jackson. He doesn't really seem to know that Katie's not here -- I think he just thinks it's one, long day and Mommy's just not home from work yet.

The dog, well that's another thing. She walked all around the house for hours last night looking for Katie. And the cats -- well, they're just happy I gave them their soft food and that they got more pillows to sleep on in the bed.

Me? I've said it before: when Katie's out of town, I really come to appreciate how much she means to me and impacts my life. She really is everything to me. Things just aren't as much fun and don't have as much meaning when she's not around.

I really love her. Hopefully I can take a few moments in the busy Mother's Day activities to show her how much I really appreciate what she does and who she is, just between she and I.

Anyway, enough of that. Mothers' Day is this weekend and we're all going to The Four Seasons for brunch at 12:30. Should be interesting -- big crowd this year, with extra babies in tow! We'll survive, but I'm sure The Four Seasons will make us leave a deposit . . .

Well, that's this coming weekend, but what about last weekend? Really all we did was kick back around the house and relax. I grilled some chicken on the patio on Saturday evening and we sat outside with Jackson until it was time for him to go to bed. Then we ate, had a few beers and tried to stay up to watch the West Coast Astros game -- I went to bed in the 2nd after Shane Reynolds gave up a Grand Slam and made it 6 to 1. Good call, too -- we lost miserably.

Sunday we got up early, went to Mass and then got doughnuts and took them to Carolyn's. The rest of the day, we just fiddled around and got ready for Katie to go out of town.

So that about wraps it up for another week -- Have a good one!
