Ah, home again for a short little while!! I wrapped my interviews / field work in LA and Mass last week. Now it's time to analyze all the stuff I learned with the client and make recommendations... Lots of writing and documenting left to do, but at least I can do it from Houston!! And mostly from home, I expect...

Don't know if I put it up earlier or not, but our trip to Vegas to see Jimmy Buffett was SUPER!! What a great show! Katie and I stayed at Mandalay Bay, which was really nice -- they have a fantastic pool. We walked and 'did' more than we should have == we needed to just sit and chill, but that's OK. Sometimes you have to 'do it all' -- next time we go for a show, though, I'll take it easy by the lazy river more...

Buffett was wonderful, of course, and he played quite a few non-standard songs. The theme this year is The Tiki Bar, which made me think of all the things we can do to decorate the boys' room -- and made me think about how I want to do our beach house, when we ever save enough to get one!!

In other news, I finally got paid from one of my side projects, so I put some of that $$ together with the bit Mom and Row gave me for my birthday and bought a new Martin acoustic guitar -- I've been wanting one for a while, but wanted to make sure I really knew what I wanted, and that I got a good deal. I basically got it for half-price on a really good internet store. I had to wait about 6 weeks from when I ordered it, but it was worth the savings. The guitar I bought is all solid wood -- mahogany and spruce -- and was made entirely by hand. It's beautiful and sounds fantastic. I need to have the strings lowered a little bit, but that's about it. And that's just personal preference, not any particular problem...

We had a good mothers' day last weekend -- at least I know the boys and I did -- and I hope Katie did too. We spent the day with her family, which was nice, and jam-packed action, as always! We went to her brother Tom's for lunch and play, and had some really good ham, shrimp and crab legs... Mmmmmm.

So what's coming up soon? The new exhibit for the bears opens this weekend at the Zoo; next week is Katie's birthday and at the end of the week, and over the Memorial Day weekend we're going to spend some time at the beach hanging out and getting sandy.

After that, it's back to LA for a presentation, then who knows?!? Later in the summer is the Phish show in San Fran... but more on that later!
