Okie, dokie .
. . So all good things come to an end, right? Well, the big gig at
Dynegy fell victim to the ills that are going around the merchant
energy sector, and most of our people are now off the project. Sucks
for any number of reasons, but mainly that this was really a nice
project -- good work, great team, huge return on investment. Everything
you want in a project. Oh, well . . . I was supposed to be one of
the ones ousted, but they reconsidered. Seems that they're going to
put everything in mothballs for a month to three, then reassemble
a team from internal sources. They need me to help mothball, recruit
the next team, and explain to them what the heck we were doing! We'll
see how it goes --
In other news,
we spent a real nice Memorial Day weekend at the lake with Mom and
Row -- we BBQ'd, hung out at the kiddie pool, rode the wave runners
and in the boat, and generally messed around. I got about 110 pages
in my latest tech book read, but other than that, it was pure relaxation.
Porter has moved
to his new room at school, also. He's not in the baby area anymore
-- it's all toddler for him now! He had to get used to it at first,
since he isn't allowed to just have something to drink any time he
wants it like in the baby room. And naps are scheduled, not on-demand!
Jackson is getting
ready to move to his new room, too. Once he gets there next week,
they'll actually start the formal potty-training. It's a concerted
effort of home, school, babysitters -- everyone -- once that starts.
Consistency is key! Good luck to him! I told him we'd get him some
big boy under pants with palm trees on them, just like Daddy's.
Finally, you
may notice to the left and on the front page a 'Support the site'
link -- click on it and contribute to the beach-house fund / toy fund
/ kids clothing fund / whatever fund. More than anything it's an experiment
to see if people actually will do it, but the way I see it, if you
like what you get here -- basically just a window into one family's
life -- give a little back. Heck, it works for Ozzy Osbourne and his
family -- they got millions for their next season! I'm just doing
this as a hobby . . .
And look at it
this way: I get a couple of hundred unique visitors a day on this
site. If everyone gave a buck, I could probably get the beach house
by this time next year -- then I could post even more pictures of
me, family and friends playing in the sand and surf! Trust me -- it's
money well spent!
