Well, we went
to the pediatrician today for Jackson's 9 month check up and all's
well. He's officially 28 3/4 inches long / tall and weighs 20 pounds
10 1/2 ounces. For those of you keeping score, that's the 60th and
55th percentiles, respectively.
Our regular doctor,
Dr. Campbell, is leaving to move to a new city with her husband, so
today we met our new doctor, Dr. Re ?something or another. I'll figure
it out later, I'm sure. Anyway, she's really nice and actually focused
some of her comments to me, as well as Katie. It's good to see some
folks actually treating dads with the same respect as moms.
Speaking of which,
I went to Gymboree for the first
time with Jackson on Wednesday. I had signed up for the classes last
Tuesday, but since I had a Wednesday meeting already, Katie got to
go to the first class with Jackson. When she got back, she had a warning
for me: 'You're not going to like it.' No real reason, just a statement.
Well, I went
this week and it was fine. A little weird (Katie thought so too, for
that matter), but Jackson had a good time, and I had a good time playing
with him on new toys and at a new place. The only major drawback is
that the instructor kept saying (you knew this was coming): 'OK Mommies,
do this' and 'Good, Mommies, now lets pick up the balls,' etc.
Last I checked,
I'm a Daddy. Anyway, I didn't
say anything, or really even think much about it -- it happens all
the time, so I just let it roll right off. The instructor did, however,
come up to me after class and apologize. She said it's just such a
habit, that she didn't really think about what she said, and that
she didn't mean anything by it. No harm.
Afterwards, we
packed into the car and went to the drive through at McDonald's.
I got a Big
Mac meal (Supersized) with a Diet
Coke and got Jackson a regular Hamburger. We split the fries.
He ate half his hamburger for lunch and had the rest for dinner. I
ate mine all at lunch.
So, that's all
about it. This weekend we'll hang out around the house and I'll probably
go ride my motorcycle some. Sometime next week, I expect to launch
the Windsor Foods website. Take
a look and let me know what you think so far. The id is GREG and
the password is AJAX.
Next weekend,
it's off to Austin for the Republic
of Texas Motorcycle Rally. Look out . . .
