Quite a bit has
been going on since Fathers Day -- the last update.
Last week was
extremely busy for me. I had meetings almost every day during the
week, and Katie went out of town for the weekend with Jackson, so
that brought on the 'bachelor weekend' opportunities that just seem
to jump out at me when Katie's away.
The fun started
over the weekend on Friday night with the opening of Zio's Italian
Cafe, way the hell out in west Houston. My friend Greg and his wife
Kathy asked Katie and I to join them for the 'pre-Grand Opening' party,
but since Katie was in Nac with Jackson and the in-laws, I ended up
going alone. Which was fine, because they had the chance to bring
along Lori (a friend of theirs) and we all had a pretty nice time.
Saturday, I got
up WAY later than I expected (about 10 am) -- notice how that changes
when you have kids and actually grow up a bit yourself. I'd sleep
til noon when I was in college and lawschool on the weekends when
I didn't have anything going on -- but hey, times change.
Anyway, Saturday
I just jacked around and did things I didn't have time for otherwise.
I got Katie's Explorer detailed, I waxed my bike, went for a ride
around the neighborhood, met Dow and his family for a margarita (two),
picked up a ribeye from Randalls, and just hung out at the house that
night watching the 'Top 100 Artists - Chosen by Artists' on VH1.
Basically, I
didn't want to do too much Satruday night because Tom had invited
me to go deep sea fishing on Sunday. Hey, I've been hung-over on a
fishing trip before and it's no fun to be hurling the whole trip.
So I took it easy.
I ended up getting
up at 3:50 (Tom was picking me up between 4 and 4:30), running to
the pulse machine for some quick cash, and then sat around and waited
for Tom. Late as ever -- he, Bill, Bob, Edgardo and Tony rolled up
in front of the house at about 5:35! Needless to say, the boat didn't
leave at 6 like the captain expected. All said and done, we set off
at about 6:30 from Freeport and had a full day of fishing. Check
out the photos, if you're interested.
As usual, we
all pitched $20 in for whoever caught the biggest fish. Yep, that
was me. Pure luck, but everyone was rooting for me, since Beau and
Tim have won the pot for as long as anyone can remember.
Well, that's
about it -- this week has been wild, but mostly geeky. I took a Cold
Fusion class Monday to Wednesday that was absolutely kick-ass, but
most of you would just be brought to tears with how boring it would
be for me to talk about that. Keeping it short: seminars like that
are how I can keep bringing you cutting edge stuff on the web. Gotta
keep current, you know . . .
Also, big things
happening professionally for me, but I won't get into that here --
just wish me luck!
