Greetings from
the bustling town of Tulsa, Oklahoma! I've been up here working on
a portal implementation for a couple of weeks. I started up here the
week before the July 4th holiday, and for now, it looks like I'll
be here for a while. 'For the foreseeable future' as the client puts
it.
Well, it does
put a little crimp in my family plans -- being up here alone isn't
the best way to keep up with the boys and Katie. But it's only temporary,
and I only have to be here four days a week, anyway. It's nice how
we have it set up: we work our asses off for four days straight, then
it's back home for a long weekend off. I'm just worried that Jackson
will forget who I am . . .
In other news,
you may have seen the photos posted a week or so ago of my car window
broken out. I got careless and forgot to bring my laptop in the house
one night and someone took advantage of it. A quick bash in the window
and it was gone. We got it all fixed and I got another laptop, but
I did end up losing a bit of information. Not much, but just enough
to be a hassle to recreate everything.
I actually just
got the new machine all set up this week -- It was pretty nice to
freshly install all my tools. And the new machine is extremely powerful,
too. It's easialy the fastest machine I own, desktop or laptop. Anyway,
I'll be sure to take GOOD care of this one!
On the family
front, things are going pretty good -- both of the boys are really
growing up quickly. Porter is rolling all around the floor, holding
his head up well when he's laying on his tummy, having fun sitting
in the exersaucer, and doing really well eating his solid foods. In
all, he's a happy baby and only really fusses when he's tired. I think
Katie will be moving the boys together in one room sometime soon.
Speaking of the
boys' room, we did a little redecorating in there recently. We've
been working on a little polynesian / Hawiian look, and we hung some
grass skirts as valances, plus hung a fish net with some sea shells
and starfish strategicly placed. We moved the rocking chair out of
there, too, to give them a bit more room.
Jackson seems
to like the new look. The first time he saw it he was a little surprised
and wanted to touch everything, but now it's just like normal. He's
talking up a storm, too. In fact, we really have to watch what we
say around him now. He threw a jar across the kitchen the other day
and I said, "Shit, Jackson" -- the next thing I knew, he
was saying 'shit, shit, shit.' Not perfectly, but I knew what he was
saying! Anyway, we moved on to something more appropriate, like 'baseball.'
Well, when I
get home this weekend, we're planning on going up to the lake to see
mom and Row for the weekend, do a little playing on the lake, and
just generally kick back. On Sunday we're taking the boys to the Astros
game at Enron, so we'll have to get back to town by mid morning.
So that's about
it for this round. Today we're finishing up phase 'one-half' for a
demo tomorrow, so we're planning on working late. Then it's back to
the apartment here for a little shut eye, and back at it again tomorrow.
So much for partying down in Tulsy town . . .
