Well, I'm still
in Tulsa -- and the family's still in Houston! Right now, it's Thursday
night at about 9 and I just got back from eating dinner with Heather
(the Project Manager on our project here) and her brother in law,
Eric. For Tulsa Mexican food, I have to say that Senior Tequila wasn't
all that bad. Of course, it's not true Texas Mexican, nor Tex-Mex,
but it did the trick for tonight.
It's looking
like I'll be here through the end of August (at the least), so I guess
I'll have to get used to the long days at work in exchange for an
extra day at home with Katie, Jackson and Porter. I'm so busy during
the days that I really don't get to missing them too much -- until
I get back to the apartment. It's hard to be away -- on both Katie
and I. I just hope it's not too bad on the kids. I kinda get the feeling
that Jackson doesn't really understand that I'm away on business.
I just remember how hard it was on Myra and I when dad was away when
we were young, and I don't want to get too caught up in work to not
cultivate what's really important in life.
Anyway, last
weekend I spent 4 days at home (I took Friday off last week and Monday
this week.) It was nice, since Katie and I both basically had a really
long weekend with the boys. We ended up going to the lake to spend
time with Mom and Row. We got up there on Friday about mid day and
stayed until Sunday morning. Sunday afternoon, of course, was the
Astros game (we won) -- and we got bobble head dolls for each of the
boys. Supposedly the doll was Craig Biggio, but only the number was
Craig's -- it didn't look any thing like him!
Jackson really
had a good time at the game. We spent about 2 hours there and he was
very interested in all the action. He's learned the word 'baseball'
and when they hit the ball, he'd say, "Baseball, Baseball"
and clap with everyone else. He really was the animated kid I love!
Porter was less
animated, but really seemed to enjoy sitting in the baby snugglie
with Katie -- and he didn't mind knocking back a bottle while we watched
the action.
Monday we had
a nice relaxing day, had lunch at BW3, and just enjoied being at home.
I stayed up late that night to catch the rest of the game on TV, and
didn't really get enough sleep before my 6:30 flight back here on
Tuesday morning.
All things being
equal, I'd rather be doing this same project in Houston. With some
adjusting, though, it's not really all that unbearable.
Home again tomorrow,
and back to a bit of normal living. Until Monday morning, that is
. . .
