Well, I'm back
in Houston after a long time being gone -- about a full week this
time! It could have been longer, though . . .
This past week,
Katie and I decided to meet up in Chicago
for a little trip, just the two of us. We had a really great time,
too -- We were lucky enough to get tickets to two baseball games at
Wrigley Field (Friday and Sunday) -- and the Cubs were playing the
Houston Astros! We had planned the trip not knowing they would be
there, but a few days later found out the coincidence -- and hooked
up some tickets. Sure the seats were up high, but the view was just
fine. And Wrigley is a great park to see a ball game in!
We ate some really
good food, too -- deep dish pizza, good gourmet mac and cheese, ribs
-- everything you need from a Chicago trip. We tried to go to Gino's
East -- the pizza place we had enjoyed so much last time we were there,
but found out that they had gone tourist on us! Oh well -- we found
a better place, Pizzano's Pasta, in Wrigleyville, that was even better.
Nice little neighborhood place with good food and good atmosphere.
We had a little table by the street and even got to see the cops arrest
a guy for hitting a woman in a restaurant down the lane.
We stayed in
a nice little eclectic neighborhood kinda between Lincoln Park and
Wrigleyville, just off the lakeside. It was a nice little hotel, very
pretty, and right near the El. We got a 3 day pass for the El and
basically either rode it or walked everywhere we needed to go.
So, now it's
back home, for rest and time with the boys! I really missed being
away from them for that long - -and they really missed me too! Porter
wouldn't let me out of his sight this morning, and didn't want me
to put him down at all. Jackson, of course, jumped in bed with me
and we snuggied and played for about an hour while Porter napped and
Katie went out for her walk.
I actually don't
have to go back to the OKC project, either . . . Long story, but let
me just say that it is a bear of a project, with a bear of a client,
and while I don't like leaving before it's finished . . . it's for
the best.
So, on to more
work here in Houston, I hope -- But regardless, I do get some time
at home with the family!!
