We know what
we're having! Last week, Katie and I went to her second ultrasound
appointment and found out that we're having another little boy! You
know what that means -- Jackson and Porter can be roomies for a LONG
time, and we don't have to add on to the house any time soon!
We are extremely
happy that Jackson will have a little brother so close in age -- they'll
be one year apart in school, so that should be interesting.
One day late
in the week last week it hit me: My boys . . . That's a phrase I'll
quickly get used to saying, with both pride and exasperation, I'm
sure!
Anyway, things
are going well with the pregnancy. Katie went in for another routine
doctor visit yesterday morning and all was well. Right on target for
an early February delivery.
And speaking
of deliveries -- one year ago tomorrow, that's
exactly what we were doing! That's right, tomorrow is JBug's birthday.
He's having a party at school today with fresh baked cookies Katie
made last night for him and all his friends and teachers.
Then, tomorrow,
we'll have a little special family party for him, and in the afternoon
we'll head up to the lake to spend the weekend with Mom and Row. His
big party will be next weekend.
We're taking
our friends Eric and Sara and their daughter Kiara up there too, so
we should have a really good Labor Day weekend.
We'll be sure
to take lots of pictures and video to post.
OK, so we had
a bit of a heart-attack this morning. Katie and I were both in a rush
to get out of the house for early meetings, and Katie was getting
Jackson out the door and off to school while I showered and all. Well,
my car was behind hers, so she strapped JBug in the carseat in her
Explorer, left the door open so he wouldn't get hot, then went to
move my car from behind hers.
Well, apparently
the carseat harness didn't latch, because when she came back to her
car, Jackson was on the concrete beside the Explorer, crying and with
a raspberry on his head. She rushed into the house and we immediately
decided to take him to Texas Childrens' Emergency Room.
Long story short,
he's fine. Just a little scraped on the forehead. He was pretty happy
after about 30 minutes -- and the doctors and nurses all said there
is nothing to worry about, but that it was good that we brought him
in.
He's sleeping
right now for his morning nap (he fell asleep in my arms while we
were waiting to be released). Poor guy -- but, hey, he shouldn't be
jumping out of the car!!
I think Mom and
Dad both learned a lesson today.
