When last we
met, I was talking about getting things ready for Jackson's birthday
party -- and boy was it fun! I've got the photos posted, so be sure
to check them out.
That Saturday
night, though, Jackson started getting sick -- a summer cold -- and
so did Katie. All that week they were both laid out with probably
the worst 'common cold' I've seen in a long time. Jackson just wasn't
himself. Katie took him to the doctor that Monday morning, but they
said he'd be fine, and just to make sure he kept drinking lots of
fluids. Basically that's all he would do, though. No real appetite
and really tired!
After a little
over a week, they were both just fine, though. We started Jackson
back to school this week and he really perked up. By Wednesday, it
was clear that he was back to his normal self -- happy, loud and curious!
We held off about
getting him his 1 year shots, though, until we know it's all clear.
We'll probably get them done in the next week or so.
Other than that,
not much has been going on around here -- it's hard to do too much
with a sick baby and a sick, pregnant wife! We did get together with
Katie's family last Sunday for lunch to celebrate the 'September birthdays'
-- Tom, Laura's parents and Jackson; and I had a chance to get out
that morning on my bike for a nice long ride in the country.
During the week
this week I was called for Jury Duty -- which was a drag because although
I didn't sit on a jury, I had to sit down in the courts for the better
half of a day. At least I took a book to read . . .
This weekend
my mom and Row asked to take care of Jackson, so they came last night
and picked him up for the weekend. He'll be back on Sunday afternoon.
Between now and then, Katie and I just plan on catching a movie, spending
some time out and going to dinner -- nothing spectacular, but nice.
If we had known they were going to have him for the weekend earlier,
though, we would have made plans to go out of town somewhere -- but
there's always a next time.
As for little
Porter, all is going well. Katie says he's not really too active now
- but that's about right. This week marks the downhill side of it
all -- so things should start happening quicker now. We may go this
afternoon and get Katie some more clothes -- she's getting bigger
in the belly and all her old maternity clothes were spring and early
summer stuff. Of course, it would be nice just to get her something
new, too!
Anyway, enough
for now.
