Entering the sixth week -- and as I type this, the Astros are on the tube in Atlanta playing the second game of the first round of MLB Playoffs, Katie and I are hanging out at the house and Jackson is fussy. Guess we've finally settled in!

Over the past week, we've all had a really busy time -- and guess what?! We made it through without any heavy burden! It was a pretty good week, overall. My dad came in town on Wednesday and stayed a few days, just spending time with us and Jackson. He seemed to have a really good time, despite the fact that there was a bunch of sitting around and not much getting out and about. He left on Friday afternoon so he could get home for the weekend --

That night, Nana (Carolyn) came by to visit and give Katie and I a night out for a date. It was really nice of her. We ended up just going over to Nit Noi (Thai food -- good stuff) for a casual bite in their newly renovated pad. Very nice, and reasonably priced, to boot. In all, we only spent about an hour out, and I guess that surprised Nana -- she was expecting us to be out much later!

Anyway, we went to the Astros game with Katie's office party on Saturday afternoon -- and everyone was there, even Katie's brother Tim, and his wife and Kyle their new son. Yet another chance for Jackson to see (just for a few minutes) his co-baby cousins. We had a good time, but had to leave early so we could feed Jackson before going to . . .

BINGO Night at St. Vincent! Tom, Laura, Taylor and Spencer met us there after the game -- and Carolyn came with some friends. We didn't get to eat, though -- they had a record crowd! Molina's served 650 plates and ran out before we had a chance to get in line. That's ok -- I won a $113 pot. Wooooo! Ca-ching!

Well, enough excitement for now . . .

Upcoming: Trip to the Greek Festival and a big party for Jackson's baptism.

Katie has started feeling like getting out more -- and that's good for us all! In addition to all the activity over the weekend, she took Jackson on Monday to meet all the people at the club. I guess they were gone for almost 2 hours -- to the club, the bank and just bopping around together. She said he did really well -- not fussy at all. I guess we just need to get him out more often.

Other than that, things are going as expected. She's continuing to breastfeed night and day -- with a little extra help from Dad in the bottle department -- but still doing the bulk of the work. She's also dropping the weight really quick. He mother even remarked that she was looking great. She's very conscious of it, though it doesn't seem to overly concern her like it might some women.

Otherwise, she's just doing the good mom stuff -- listening to music with him, reading and playing.

Worst day this week: the night she had to hold him all night to keep him from waking up. Everytime she put him down, he started crying, so she just sat in the chair, kicked her feet up and went to sleep herself.

He's doing just fine -- especially given all the activity the past week. He seems to be taking it with stride. I can tell he's getting bigger just by picking him up, and as you can see, he's getting almost too long for one of his bassinets. He's gotten to where he likes to eat more often than he used to, also. Katie thinks it's a growing spurt.

Best moment this week: sleeping through most of the Astros game -- second to the last at the Dome.

Well, the most I can say for me this week is: Hey, do I love BINGO! No really, I had a good week -- I like being able to get out with Katie and Jackson, and sometimes it's nice for just the two of us to go out as a couple, too.

Overwhelmingly, though, I am happy just being a dad. I enjoy carrying Jackson around on my 'shift' and just taking care of him. Sure, I can't give him the 'mommy moo juice' au natural, but a bottle here or there is fine for him and me both. Soon enough we'll be doing all the other things that make dads and sons happy -- whatever they are . . .
