It's Sunday afternoon
again and time for me to get packing for my now weekly trip for work
. . . Harrah's Entertainment,
this time around, if you missed it. Normally I'm in Memphis where
their IT department is based, but last week it was Las Vegas -- fun
place, if you're there on someone else's money!!
I have been working
non-stop the past few weeks, too. I told Katie last night that I really
need a break -- I haven't had a day that I didn't work for at least
2 hours in the past 5 weeks. I know -- no pity for me -- but it still
gets the stress level going . . .
And I miss the
boys so much! This week, I came home early for Halloween and realized
how much I miss them and Katie when I'm away at work. I guess for
some people, the time away can be fun -- but for me, it's really just
work.
Yesterday we
went to the Texas Renaissance Festival and had a blast! It ended up
raining for about the last hour we were there, but we had a good time,
anyway. Porter loved dancing to all the mediaeval age music and Jackson
had fun riding the elephants. We watched a little bit of the Mud Show
-- but the boys really aren't old enough to get interested in that
yet. After about 4 hours, Jackson passed out in the wagon, and Porter
and Katie got into a middle-ages version of the spinning teacups (people-powered)
in the middle of the pouring rain. Next year, we're all going to dress
up . . .
Well, we're already
making plans for Thanksgiving, too. Myra and Kenneth are going to
join us, and our niece Hannah will be here, too.
Between now and
then, there's lots of work, but there's also a little trip Katie and
I are taking to Sanibel Island for a long weekend. I've got tons enough
of frequent flyer miles, and it's the off-season, so it really isn't
costing much of anything -- about the same we'd spend hanging around
Houston. Mimi and Papaw are watching the boys, so it will be a vacation
for all four of us.
Anyway, I better
go spend some time with the boys now that they're waking up. Be sure
to check out the photos from Nightmare on
Dryden Road -- Halloween 2002.
