Last week was
quite a busy one for me -- and for Katie and Jackson. I ended up spending
Tuesday and Wednesday in Austin for an Oracle developers conference.
Katie and Jackson stayed here and oversaw the partial remodeling of
our kitchen and main bathroom!!
And of course,
then there was the election that won't end . . . I spent Tuesday just
a stone's throw from where Bush was waiting out the election results.
In fact, as I was leaving the Austin convention center, his motorcade
had me stopped -- standing in the cold and rain -- as he was going
to the Four Season's hotel where he had dinner and watched some of
the early returns.
I stayed up until
about 12:30 with Myra and Kenneth waiting for a winner -- and now
I'm glad I went to bed when I did! I'm looking forward to a resolution
of all of this, but so is the rest of the country!
On Monday, our
new stove / oven we ordered was supposed to be delivered, so Katie
had scheduled for our contractor to begin taking the old stove and
oven out. He also busted out the cabinets that the stove was in to
make way for the new unit. Well, all that went well -- it was just
Sears that didn't come through. I got a call at 12:15 on Monday saying
that they would not deliver the unit until Saturday (today). That
meant we would have no oven or stove until next Monday. For the record,
we're still waiting on Sears to come today. Sometime between 3 and
5.
Well, tonight
we're going to the opening of a new exhibit at the Museum of Fine
Arts -- British Fashion: From Monarchy to Anarchy. Patty and Jack
(our neighbors) are taking care of Jackson, so we'll make a night
of it.
Next week should
be a normal week, but Katie and I will be celebrating every night
(hopeuflly) with our new stove and oven == Christmas comes early!
Basically that -- and a new sink / vanity and wood floors in the bathroom
-- are our gifts to eachother this year. As for the official
list -- it's posted again this year, due to popular demand. Be
sure to check it out for gift ideas for Jackson, Katie and I.
Until next time,
be good --
