Thanksgiving
was great! My dad ended up coming in on Wednesday about 2:30 from
Baton Rouge and my sister and her boyfriend Kenneth got in around
5:30. I didn't feel like going to the mat cooking dinner, so we all
opted for Goode Co. Taqueria instead.
That night, Myra
and Kenneth went over to his brother's and hung out around town and
Dad, Katie, Jackson and I did the homebody thing. First thing the
next morning, I got the fire started for all the food and we hit the
ground running!
Deborah and her
family came in around 2, if I remember right, and everyone started
arriving for dinner shortly thereafter. We moved the furniture around
in the living room and set up two long tables for dinner and everything
worked out just fine. Take a look at
some of the photos.
After dinner,
Tom and his crew went to see the Uptown Lighting ceremony and we all
agreed to get together Friday for leftovers.
Jackson didn't
get any turkey and dressing this year, but he sure had a good time
with all the attention paid to him over the weekend. Speaking of Jackson,
he's getting big very fast. He is finally at the point where he can
support his head for a while on his own, so we know he's getting stronger,
too.
It seems right
now that his favorite toy is a stuffed animal Pokemon doll called
Picachu -- a happy looking little creature with big red circles for
cheeks and a bright yellow body. He giggles, smiles at it and talks
to it all the time!
Anyway, Katie
has sorted out his clothes that are already too small for him and
put them in his 'First 3 Months' box. We're fighting a losing battle
to keep the cats out of it though! When I get the Christmas decorations
out of the attic this weekend, I'll put his box up there for safekeeping.
So, Dad left
on Saturday afternoon and Myra made it back to Austin on Sunday evening.
Everything went pretty smooth and we all had a good time -- with good
food and lots of desserts!
Now it's time
for all the Christmas shopping . . .
By the way, I'm
sitting here in the middle of the afternoon writing this and Jackson
is in his bassinett right next to me kicking up his feet and farting.
Loudly.
