Randomy thoughts
/ stuff from the past months:
October
Spent a lot of
time on the road between Houston, Hamilton, MS, and Tulsa. Was
managing 2 projects for our Kerr-McGee engagements, one on their
Capital Project Engineering Document Management effort and one
for Design Change Approval Workflow. Also did quite a bit more
work on the SOx effort.
We went to Dallas
on 2 consecutive weekends for family weddings -- Katie Kennedy
(Katie's cousin) and Angie Oglesby (Row's daughter). Jackson puked
on Katie at the Kennedy wedding, and both boys got colds. They
didn't go with us to Angie's.
Soccer ended
and Jackson got a trophy, which he slept with for 3 days.
November
Lots of time
between Houston and Dallas -- finished up the Hamilton project
for Doc Man, and DCA Workflow went on hiatus pending sign-off on
the design. Won't kick back up until after Thanksgiving. WebEx
webinar for our SOx effort SUCKED big time -- WebEx crashed on
my in the middle of a presentation to 63 people. Talk about the
hot-seat... Started another project for the Federation of State
Medical Boards in Dallas -- a proof of concept for what we recommended
that they do earlier in the year when we did the assessment. Finished
it the day before Thanksgiving break.
Because of all
the traveling, I ended up qualifying for super-elite status with
Southwest Airlines -- got a 1-year companion pass for Katie: now
anytime I fly, she can go along for FREE.
We spent the
Thanksgiving holiday at the beach -- wonderful time!! Spent lots
of time playing along the beach, walking and exploring, and driving
looking for 'floaters' -- fishing buoys washed up on shore.
December
We're going to
the SVDP school Breakfast with Santa on Saturday and Sunday we'll
be busy dropping presents off for the motorcycle Toy Ride, then
off to the Red Caboose Christmas Tree farm to find our tree.
Finally got the
wireless network at home this week, too. Set up my work laptop,
new iMac, boys' old iMac, and my handheld all to use it. Very cool.
Also turned in some Amex points to get a new digital camera --
finally into the world of multi-mega-pixel!! I got a 3.1 mega-pixel,
since I really don't see the need to enlarge over 11x14... that
way I can get max use from memory card space on the camera and
HD space on my machine / website.
It seems I've
rat-holed all my vacation to the end of the year again, so I'm
planning on being officially on vacation beginning 12/15 through
the end of year -- but may have to pop in to work on stuff here
and there...
