Wish List
2000
Well, here it
is -- the Wish List seemed to be a big hit with everyone last year,
so it's back again. I got numerous comments about how nice it was
to know just what we wanted AND needed, so that gifts don't get returned,
and everyone is truly appreciative.
And I also got
mail from people that are frequent visitors of the site, but not family,
that just laughed their asses off at the whole thing -- and at what
was on the list!
So without further
a-do . . .
Jackson
Jackson's going
to be almost 16 months old by the time Christmas rolls around, and
he's pretty consistent in what he likes -- books and interactive toys.
Right now he's wearing a size appropriate for 18 months. Baby
Gap and Old
Navy seem to have the best styles and good value, so that's always
a place to start.
Oh, yes, and
did I mention that he LOVES books?!?! Katie and I enjoy reading to
him as much as he enjoies hearing the stories, but let's be real:
The same set of books gets old quick! Katie's been going to the library
to get new sets every couple of weeks, and that works well. If you're
inclined to get books as gifts, though, don't be shy -- if you've
got some older ones around that your kids (grandkids) don't use, Jackson
would love them. Also, Half-Priced Books or other used book stores
provide great value. Otherwise, I've put some of the books I think
he'd enjoy on my list at Amazon.com.
Finally, if you're
into the 'useful now and in the future' mode, and you've got a little
extra cash on hand, be sure to look at the double
stroller that would be just the thing for Jackson and Porter (and
mom and dad). It's Katie-recommended and approved for dual-kid usability,
too. (Of course, this could be regarded as a 'family gift' and new
baby gift combined.)
Katie
Katie's looking
for shoes this year again -- some black or brown leather mules and
some running / athletic shoes. For the mules, she said size 7medium;
for the athletic, 8.
Since she's going
to be almost due with Porter in December, clothes are really out of
the question. Carolyn likes to get her a nice suit or something for
work for Christmas, so she's decided to go with a gift-certificate
that Katie can use later in the year when things get back to normal.
That's not really a bad idea, either.
Other than that,
Katie hasn't really told me anything she wants -- so you'll have to
check back here to find out what makes the list as the weeks go on.
Ed
I'm going to
be easy this year -- I've got some books and music I've had my eye
on for a while on Amazon.com,
so you can check that out. I also have really enjoied my Aloha shirts
I get from Tommy Bahama.
But I don't think you can get those online --
I wear a size
8 (or 8 1/2) shoe, an XL shirt (XXL T-shirts), and between a 36 and
38 pants (30 length).
That being said,
I really would like Christmas to be a good one for Jackson and Katie
-- so if it's a choice between getting me something, or putting the
extra for what would be good for them, go with them. Remember, I'll
be the one taking all the photos and running the video camera anyway,
so they really need to be the ones working on the gifts!
Now, if you really
want to put your gift giving to good use, though, you might want to
give some thought to contributing to the special fund so that one
day Katie and I can afford one
of these.
Anyway, I hope
that gives you someplace to start when you start thinking, "What
the heck can I get Katie, Ed and Jackson?!?!" Now, if I could
just figure out what to get my mom, and Tom, and Kenneth, and . .
.
